Seasoned SaaS executive will help scale Piano’s business
New York, March 19 — Trevor Kaufman, Piano CEO, today announced that Andrew Meranus has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Sales, North America. Meranus will lead a growing North American business for Piano, building on its position as the preeminent digital content monetization and audience intelligence platform used by the world’s largest content companies, including Bloomberg, NBC Sports, The Economist, Hearst, Condé Nast and News Corp. Meranus will build out the North American sales team and help steer overall commercial strategy and execution in collaboration with colleagues in sales, marketing, business development and client experience.
Meranus is a proven business development leader who has driven revenue and operational excellence throughout his career. He joins Piano following his tenure at PR Newswire and Cision, the leading SaaS platform for the communications industry. At PR Newswire Meranus led agency strategy, developing and managing partnerships with global agencies and networks including Omnicom Group, Edelman, and WPP, delivering more than $100 million of revenue. Meranus played a key leadership role during the nearly $1B acquisition of PR Newswire by Cision in 2016. More recently, he managed a team of 16 enterprise account executives focused on expanding the footprint of Cision’s SaaS platform to leading enterprise customers, public relations and marketing agencies across the United States.
“To date, Piano’s dramatic growth has been driven primarily by the power of our platform and the efforts of the founders,” said Trevor Kaufman, Piano’s CEO. “But having signed up more than fifty enterprise customers since January 2017, we’re at a key inflection point. We are now ready to scale the business even more dramatically, but we don’t want to lose the consultative, market-sensitive approach that has enabled us to succeed so far. Bringing Andrew onto our executive team is the expression of that strategy: he is an expert, seasoned, and energetic sales leader who also brings a wealth of domain expertise.”
“Piano’s platform has become an critical component in the mix of tools publishers and content companies are leveraging to better monetize and manage their customers,” said Meranus. “I am thrilled to be joining Piano and this talented leadership team and leverage my experience working at the crossroads of technology, media and content. There are tremendous opportunities to grow and scale the business and I am honored to play a key role in defining the future of Piano.”
Prior to his tenure at PR Newswire and Cision, Meranus ran strategic alliances at ScreamingMedia/Pinnacor and played a key role in the company’s $60MM IPO on Nasdaq, a company later acquired by MarketWatch/Dow Jones & Company.
