Part of one of the fastest growing entertainment and media markets in the world, the leading Indian media and information platform has leveraged Piano to launch its B2C subscription service in order to accelerate digital growth.
Piano, the leading subscription commerce and customer experience technology and services provider, today continues its growth into the Indian market with the announcement of a new partnership with Inc42. Inc42 is a leading Indian media and information platform, known for its end-to-end coverage of the local startup ecosystem.
This announcement will expand on that, building Piano’s presence in the country after the November 2018 acquisition of content marketing cloud Newzmate (now rebranded as Piano ESP) resulted in partnerships with India-based companies ABP Group and Indian Express.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Inc42, and to explore the opportunities that come with working with such a dynamic player within India’s quickly evolving media market,” said Trevor Kaufman, Piano CEO. “Inc42 is an authoritative voice of the Indian startup ecosystem, reaching millions of loyal users every month. We can’t wait to see the results we achieve together.”
The strategic decision to work with Inc42 significantly strengthens Piano’s global footprint in this key location. With more than 17,000 newspapers and 850 TV channels nationwide, India’s media industry offers a strong and diverse foundation with significant room for future growth — fueled by a thriving economy and a young population ready to embrace new models. According to a March 2019 joint report by Ernst & Young LLP and the not-for-profit FICCI, digital subscriptions grew in India by over 250 percent from 2017 to 2018, with the entire media and entertainment industry expected to reach a value of US$33.6 billion by 2021. The readership of Inc42, ABP Group and Indian Express combined is approximately 15 million, making up almost three percent of India’s total audience of about 560 million users.
“We decided to work with Piano because of the leading technology and services they provide across the global market, which will allow us to accelerate our growth,” said Utkarsh Agarwal, Co-founder of Inc42. “With Piano as our partner, we’re able to leverage their platform to build out our subscriptions strategy and achieve business results that allow us to focus on delivering superior content and intelligence to our audiences.”
Inc42 will be leveraging Piano’s platform to launch Inc42+ — its premium membership offering. Inc42+ will bundle together unlimited access to the Inc42 platform, with premium content, selected reports, members-only events and many other perks, all available as part of a subscription.
